MQuant® Litmus paper red is suitable to monitor a pH change from acidic to alkalinic. The paper changes its colour from red (below 4.5) to blue (above pH 8.3). Litmus is a natural product; it is the oldest form of pH indicator absorbed on paper. This is why litmus paper is still broadly used as a synonym for other pH papers, even though these are impregnated with other, mostly synthetic, indicator dyes. pH indicator papers supplied in rolls are better suited for long-term storage, since they are protected against external influences. For a semi-quantitative monitoring of the pH value, please refer to our MQuant® pH-indicator papers or strips and for a quantitative measurement to our Reflectoquant® test strips.
